Between Leadership Index
The Between Leadership Index is a comprehensive diagnostic leadership instrument that builds on the work of founder Sonia Diab McBride, whose PhD research informed parts of this survey and its development. The Between Leadership Index reveals leadership through three lenses:
The Leadership System: How leadership is experienced across the organisation through different dimensions
Self-reported contribution to leadership: How you see your leadership practice in this context
How your leadership is experienced by others: 360-degree feedback offers insight into the same leadership dimensions from your critical peers, managers, and/or subordinates.
Each of the three lenses evaluates indicators of Sonia’s unique distributed leadership dimensions: Creation, Anchoring (for formal leaders only), Presence, Pragmatism, Relational Energy, Relational Depth, and Collective Tone. Sonia’s PhD research found positive, significant relationships between this conceptual model of leadership dimensions and various organisational outcomes, including psychological safety, job satisfaction, perceived organisational performance, self-rated performance, and employee wellbeing.
For further insight, lenses 2 and 3 also assess leadership foundations, including Self-Leadership, Ethical Leadership, Decision-Making, and Technological Leadership (including AI leadership).
Between Leadership Index individual reports offer unique insights and points of reflection on their leadership context and conditions, their relational leadership strengths and opportunities, and core leadership foundations. The diagnostic tool facilitates insights and offers reflective questions to prompt self-awareness and support leadership development.
At the team and organisational level, the Between Leadership Index reports provide data indicating the strengths of the broader leadership context, alongside potential areas in which leadership conditions may be enhanced through processes, collective dynamics and spaces to nurture a thriving culture of leadership.

Between Leadership Foundations
Duration: 2-4 months
Inclusions: 3 full-day face-to-face workshops, 9.00 am-4 pm; Between Leadership Index individual diagnostic reports for each delegate; management debrief session post-program (60 mins)
Group size: Up to 20 delegates
Focus: All the essentials for new and emerging leaders in the modern organisation, including: Self-leadership, relational leadership, having difficult conversations, nurturing a high-performance team and a culture of leadership.
Between Leadership Momentum
Duration: 4 to 6 months
Inclusions: 4 full-day face-to-face workshops, 9.00am-4pm; plus 5 virtual sessions (90 mins); Between Leadership Index individual diagnostic reports for each delegate and optional team diagnostic report; management debrief session
Group size: Up to 20 delegates
Focus: Our recommended program for new, emerging, and existing leaders covers a wide range of leadership areas, including: Self-leadership, relational leadership, having difficult conversations and facilitating conflict, nurturing a high-performance team and a culture of leadership, ethical leadership, leading through change, decision-making, virtual leadership and leading in the age of AI.
Between Leadership Immersion
Duration: 6 to 12 months
Inclusions: 4 full-day face-to-face workshops, 9.00pm-4pm; 5 virtual sessions (90 mins); individual debrief sessions for each delegate (45 mins per person); management debrief session post-program (60mins); individual post-program coaching sessions for each delegate (45 mins per person); Between Leadership Index individual diagnostic reports for each delegate and optional team diagnostic report
Optional extras: ongoing one-to-one coaching for delegates for 6 months post-program; additional full-day face-to-face workshop based on specific organisational needs
Group size: Up to 20 delegates
Focus: The Between Leadership Immersion program is an all-in program designed to support sustained leadership development for existing or emerging leaders. With additional one-on-one touchpoints for each delegate and the option to extend the program with a further group session and ongoing organisational coaching, Immersion offers more opportunities for conceptual depth, alongside powerful, tailored, actionable insights and accountability on each delegate’s leadership journey.
